Commenting on the record-breaking number of awards given to Sutton’s parks this year, Councillor Barry Lewis, Chair of the Environment and Sustainable Transport Committee, said:
“I am extremely proud that Sutton has received our highest-ever number of Green Flag awards this year.
“Our parks are a true reflection of what makes Sutton such a great place to live. They offer a tranquil escape for our residents to walk and socialise, provide opportunities for families to spend time together, as well as being a place for people to take part in a variety of leisure activities from tree-planting to tennis.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to our parks team, contractors and all our volunteers and friends groups who so generously offer their time to help maintain our parks and open spaces to ensure that they remain such wonderful, award-winning spaces.
“We continue to invest in our parks and open spaces to ensure they are places that everyone can enjoy, including improved accessibility to play equipment and upgrading our tennis courts. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to keep Sutton a great place to live.”
