In celebration of The BRIT Awards 2019, headline sponsor Mastercard has conducted research revealing our nation’s love for singing in the shower (35%), with 42% of those admitting that it makes them happy and the acoustics in the bathroom make their voice sound better. 80% cited music as being an integral part of their everyday moments and memories.

The research also uncovered the nation’s top five smash hits to sing along to while soaping up:

  • Justin Timberlake, ‘Cry Me A River’
  • George Ezra, ‘Shotgun’
  • Ed Sheeran, ‘Shape of You’
  • Calvin Harris x Dua Lipa, ‘One Kiss’
  • Jax Jones ft. Raye ‘You Don’t Know Me’

The study by Mastercard revealed that nearly 60% of people listen to music when alone, with 76% happy to sing along when no-one can hear them.

Millennials topped the charts as the generation who sing the most in the shower; not afraid to express themselves in a space they feel comfortable. We’re a nation of popstars it seems, with a whopping 60% of respondents citing they prefer to sing along to chart hits over power ballads (18%).

In line with the Mastercard research, the Hard Rock Hotel London is offering an exclusive audio experience for aspiring singers, music lovers and hotel guests alike to put them up close and personal with the music, offering them the chance to create their very own soundtrack as part of their stay. Whether it’s taking one of the hotel’s Fender guitars and rocking out in the room, downloading an expertly curated playlist or just singing in the shower, the hotel offers guests this unique in-room experience. Mastercard has partnered with Hard Rock Hotel London to offer 20% discount when booking.**

As an exclusive preview of the service, Mastercard invited BRIT School students and aspiring artists to experience this inspired in-suite experience and create their own music video, in the lead up to The BRIT Awards 2019.
