One of the UK’s leading food hall operators, Blend Family, has announced plans to open a major new food hall, The Elephant Exchange, in London bringing an exciting mix of independent food traders, bars, coffee, culture and community events to the heart of Elephant & Castle.

Opening in 2026, The Elephant Exchange Food Hall will transform a prominent space within the landmark development into a vibrant destination where visitors can discover some of the most exciting independent food concepts from across London and beyond.

The new venue will feature a carefully curated line-up of independent kitchens, alongside a central bar and coffee shop, creating a social destination designed for everything from quick lunches and after-work drinks to family gatherings and weekend meet-ups.

Known for creating some of the UK’s most successful food halls, including Cutlery Works in Sheffield, Kargo MKT in Salford Quays and Tower Bridge Collective in London, Blend Family has built a reputation for championing independent businesses while creating welcoming spaces that bring communities together.

Matt Bigland, Co-founder of Blend Family, said: “We believe great food halls should be about much more than eating and drinking. They should be places where people connect, discover something new and feel part of their local community. Elephant & Castle is one of the most exciting and diverse areas in London, and we’re incredibly excited to create a destination that reflects that energy and creativity.”

Visitors can expect an eclectic mix of cuisines, innovative street food concepts, local favourites and emerging culinary talent, all under one roof. Alongside food and drink, the venue will host regular events, collaborations and cultural programming designed to celebrate the creativity and diversity that make Elephant & Castle unique.

The arrival of The Elephant Exchange Food Hall comes as the area continues to evolve as one of London’s most vibrant destinations for culture, hospitality and independent businesses. Located at the centre of a rapidly growing neighbourhood, the venue aims to become a welcoming hub for residents, workers, students and visitors alike.

The project represents Blend Family’s latest investment in creating community-led destinations that celebrate independent businesses and local culture. With each of its venues offering a unique identity shaped by the neighbourhoods they serve, The Elephant Exchange Food Hall promises to become a distinctive addition to London’s food scene.

Further details, including the full line-up of Food Partners and opening programme, will be announced in the coming months.

Blend Family is now welcoming interest from independent food businesses with a strong sense of identity, ambition, and a clear culinary vision.
