This month, BOXHALL welcomes acclaimed Sri Lankan restaurant Karapincha, as their newest trader at Kitchen No.8, BOXHALL’s dedicated platform for showcasing some of London’s most exciting culinary talent.
Founded by twin sisters Vasanthini and Dharshini Perumal, Karapincha is rooted in tradition and their family’s deep love for food. Born in Kandy and raised in Colombo on their mother’s spice-rich recipes, their family famously owned one of Colombo’s most popular vegetarian restaurants and the sisters have continued this legacy across London. “Karapincha” is the Sinhala word for the curry leaf, which is at the core of their hand-ground spice blends and curry dishes.
Having just opened at BOXHALL yesterday, Monday 17 August, Karapincha is serving up cutting-edge dishes lovingly inspired by these authentic home-cooked meals, enriched with locally-sourced meats and vegetables, coconut milk and fiery chilli sambols. These dishes include their irresistible Devilled Chicken with fragrant fried rice and pomegranate seeds, beautifully rich Kothu Rothi with shredded roti, tenderly crispy lamb rolls as well as their soft buttery Paratha served with delicious vegan curry.
Karapincha is the latest arrival to Kitchen No.8 BOXHALL’s rotating residency dedicated to showcasing boundary-pushing culinary talent. A concept which brings fresh ideas, bold flavours and limited-edition menus to BOXHALL, Kitchen No. 8 gives guests the opportunity to discover dynamic dishes from some of the UK’s most exciting independent food traders.
Vasanthini and Dharshini Perumal, Co-Founders of Karapincha, said: “We’re so excited to be joining BOXHALL and bringing a little taste of Sri Lanka to the community. Karapincha has always been about sharing the food we grew up with and the flavours we love, and it’s really special for us to have the opportunity to introduce even more people to Sri Lankan food. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new home at BOXHALL, meeting new customers, and hopefully making plenty of people fall in love with Sri Lankan food along the way.”
Luther Dyer, General Manager at BOXHALL City, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Karapincha to Kitchen No.8 at BOXHALL. Vasanthini and Dharshini’s passion for sharing the vibrant flavours and traditions of Sri Lankan cuisine makes them an exciting addition to our line-up of independent food traders. Their commitment to authentic family recipes, bold spices and exceptional ingredients perfectly reflects what Kitchen No.8 is all about – championing innovative concepts and introducing our guests to outstanding culinary talent.”
