The ‘Apple’ singer, Charli XCX, has been making waves since the release of her latest album BRAT in June, which sparked a global social media trend.
Now, Charli XCX is bringing the excitement to London, set to perform at the O2 Arena this week in what promises to be an unmissable experience. With 333,000 searches for her in the past month alone, her comeback is generating major buzz, and fans are expected to travel far and wide to see her live.
A recent survey by vehicle innovators at Kia finds that the average person was willing to travel 204 miles to catch their favourite act perform this summer, but how much are these Brats willing to travel for Charli XCX?
Breaking down the Brat stats:
The survey revealed, on average, that fans would be willing to travel 290 miles to see Charli XCX perform. Almost 17% (16.7%) of respondents indicated they would be willing to travel over 500 miles to see her perform, just showing how dedicated her fan base is!
When it comes to an age breakdown it’s no surprise she is most popular amongst those aged 16-24, closely followed, more surprisingly, by the 35-44 age group and then those aged 25-34.
While her fans would be willing to travel almost 300 miles to see her, Charli XCX isn’t the most popular amongst female pop stars. Stars such as Taylor Swift and Beyonce ranked the highest in the survey when respondents were asked which artist or band they would like to see most this year. Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat also rank above Charli XCX, indicating she may not be the most well-known artist.
Shockingly, in the four cities Charli XCX is performing in (London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow), respondents ranked the singer low in terms of artists they’d like to see this year. 2.3% of Glasgow respondents were eager to see Charli, while Birmingham (2.1%), London (1.9%) and Manchester (1.8%) weren’t far behind. Cardiff ranks the highest in terms of respondents wanting to see Charli XCX live – perhaps a surprise show in the Welsh capital should be on the cards for her…
When it comes to watching live music, it turns out that superfans who are willing to trek hundreds of miles for their favourite artists consider the journey just as memorable as the performance. Nearly half of respondents (48%) consider the trip to a gig a large part of the concert experience, with over a third (35%) revealing that they love travelling for a concert.
