A long-serving TV extra, who has worked across a variety of the nation’s favourite soaps has finally got the recognition he deserves, claiming the first ever award solely dedicated to celebrating supporting artists in soaps.
Colin James Murtagh is a bobby who’s worked a few beats, having featured in a number of the UK’s favourite soaps, including Hollyoaks, Holby City, Coronation Street and Casualty. Now, he’s been named as the nation’s favourite extra from his regular roles as a copper. This hard-working TV veteran loves the business and has cropped up in many memorable episodes over the years.
Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in Coronation Street, presented the award to lucky winner, Collin, at a special meet and greet. Anthony comments: “I see every day the level of enthusiasm and hard work supporting artists bring to the set, so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to acknowledge them for the great work they do.”
Soap Extra of the Year, Murtagh, added: “I am absolutely delighted to have won this award and I am over the moon that the public have voted for me. I would like to thank PlayOJO for recognising my work and the work of all supporting artists and I look forward to many more enjoyable years playing a variety of roles in TV and film.”
PlayOJO, the fair casino, which is challenging the UK online casino market to be fair and transparent, launched the TV Soap Extra of the Year Award 2018 asking fans to vote for their favourite extra from a shortlist of five nominees
