Soylent, the on-the-go meal, has found that 80,000* London tech workers are likely to skip meals this week, the Dealiest of the Year (31.03 – 07.04)  due to long hours and hectic schedules. And with £1.6m due to be invested into startups this week* there is a whole host of opportunities for success which the Silicon Valley brand will fuel by giving away 5,000 free meals in Old Street, East London’s Tech City.

The data findings were sourced by Soylent, the #1 grocery product on Amazon US, and Beauhurst, the UK’s leading source of business funding market intelligence, who studied data from 10,000 companies. Findings indicated that firms that get investment during the Dealiest Week of the Year have a 90% business survival rate – higher than any other time of the year.

Additional research was carried out to reveal the ‘food void’ habits of UK consumers skipping meals, with over half of tech workers (51%) missing breakfast. 60% of respondents stated that unhealthy meals are their ‘go-to’ when they are hungry and short on time (pizza 60%, fish and chips 40%).

Londoners can call into Old Street Station from 7.30am from today until Friday to grab their free sample of Soylent ready-to-drink and 50% off their next order.  Alternatively, those within a half-mile radius of the tube station can Tweet @SoylentUK and #MealsforDeals to book your free desk delivery slot.

Commenting on the activity, Soylent Vice President of Brand Marketing, Andrew Thomas, says, “Research shows that there are 10 times more startups in London than in any other city in the UK, making East London’s Tech City the perfect place to fuel startup’s success during the Dealiest Week of the Year. Pop by and grab a Soylent, and make sure you’re pitch-ready for this week.”

Each 414ml bottle of Soylent ready-to-drink is designed with healthy productivity in mind and is packed with 20g of plant-based protein and 36 essential nutrients – providing the nutrition workers need when on a deadline.

This activity follows Soylent’s ongoing expansion as the brand goes into 100 WH Smith travel stores from 10th April with Cacao and Cafe Mocha, in addition to the launch of their Powder range via Amazon UK in Original and Cacao favours.
