Arriving in the US’s three most popular, ready-to-drink flavours: Cacao, Cafe Mocha and Original, the product will be sold in cases of 12 at £39.99 (just £3.33 per 414ml bottle), with each drink designed as a complete meal, packed with 20g of protein and 26 vitamins and minerals.

Created for those striving to be the best they can be at work, in life or even at play, Soylent provides a tasty way for time-strapped consumers to fill up and get the nutrition needed when a hectic schedule may otherwise cause them to make unhealthy, unsustainable or expensive on-the-go choices.

With UK research showing that skipping meals is becoming more commonplace, Soylent CEO Bryan Crowley believes the time is right to bring Soylent to the UK. He says: “For many of us, a busy lifestyle means it’s hard to get the nutrition we want, despite good intentions. Falling back on bad habits of skipping meals, snacking on junk food or eating nutritionally sub-par foods can become the norm as we struggle to maintain a healthy balance. At Soylent, we call these occasions ‘food voids’ and we’re on a mission to make these obsolete for consumers everywhere”.

As well as being an accessible and convenient choice, Soylent has also been developed with the planet in mind. A vegan and nut-free drink, Soylent uses plant-based protein to ensure less water is utilized and less CO2 is produced compared to the process to source protein from livestock. The innovative drink design also reduces food waste – with a year-long shelf life from manufacture and no need for refrigeration until opened, Soylent is able to stay fresh and tasting great for longer.

Founder Rob Rhinehart, alongside co-founders Matt Cauble, John Coogan, and David Renteln, developed Soylent in 2013 as a solution to the food voids they faced when launching their own start-up businesses. Working under the same roof and eating the same diet of frozen corn dogs and instant ramen noodles, the team came together to develop the first Soylent formula. After an initial crowdfunding campaign, which achieved what is still considered today to be the highest number of pre-orders for a food and beverage product via crowdfunding, Soylent went from one mixable powder sold direct to consumers to a suite of ready-to-drink meals.

The brand has continued to expand and is now available on Amazon and stocked with US retail giants including Wal*Mart, 7-11, Kroger and more, and in January, Soylent was the #1 Grocery product on all of Amazon in the US.

The three RTD variants will be available from September via Amazon UK at £39.99 for a case of 12 bottles (£3.33 per bottle), with Soylent mixable powder formats coming in the new year.
