We caught up with designer Veronika Vimpelova of high-end fashion label VIMPELOVA, a brand that caters to both men and women, based in London, UK.

Vimpelova is a London based fashion designer originally coming from the Czech Republic. She was inspired to carve a path in the fashion industry by her grandmother, who successfully ran her own bespoke studio. In light of her talent and aspirations, she studied for a degree in fashion design at ESDEMGA, at the University of Vigo in Spain. Veronika was selected to showcase her graduate collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid in 2014.

This was followed by the opportunity to complete her professional training in London, at McQ Alexander

McQueen. Working with McQ enhanced her skill for detail and gave her a unique education in the steps required to create a collection – leading to the launch of her own brand. VIMPELOVA will showcase as part of the Prince’s Trust Fashion Collective hosted by Fashions Finest SS18.

  1. What motivates you?

The process of watching a collection to come together and the reward of the final result.  But what really drives me is when somebody I don’t know want’s to wear my clothes.

  1. How has your personal life influenced your career?

Since I decided to live more sustainable life it was only natural I apply these ethics to my work and my brand.

3) What was your greatest success in the past few years?

Showcasing for EGO, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in 2014.

4) Do you have a Muse you wish you could see wearing your designs?

Livia Firth and Ema Watson

5) Do you have a story you are particularly fond of, from the early years of your career?

One Friday night I got a call from Rita Ora’s stylist who wanted me to amend Rita’s dress, which she was going to wear on the X-factor as being one of the judges. I took a cab to her house in West London, fit the dress on her, went home and had one day to fix it. I did all the alteration, crying while cutting the beautiful Valentino’s couture dress, took a cab to X-Factor the next day and lastly, went on stage to hand-tack the dress while Rita was having 5 min break and me having an audience of thousand’s behind my back. It was an extraordinary weekend.

6) What are your plans for the future?

Focus more on my brand and spend some time investigating in different ways to make fashion more sustainable.
