THE hearcare team at locally owned and run high street opticians and audiologists in Walton-on-Thames has appointed Ewelina Pobrotyn as its new hearing aid dispenser.

Ewelina joins the Surrey based team, having already worked for the Specsavers brand for over nine years, so she brings a wealth of experience and expertise.

Originally from Poland, Ewelina moved to the UK in 2012, joining Specsavers Feltham in 2017 where she worked for two years, being responsible for in-store training and merchandising, while also working as an optical assistant. In 2019 the opportunity to join Specsavers Hampton as the assistant store manager arose, which enabled Ewelina to broaden her experience.

During 2021, Ewelina was offered a role in the audiology team at Specsavers Staines where she joined in the position of hearing care assistant. This proved to be the catalyst for furthering her experience and, under the stewardship of the former Specsavers Staines audiology director Mario Pereira, Ewelina received support in learning about all things to do with the ears.

Enrolling at Du Montford University, Ewelina studied for a Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Hearing Aid Audiology, which took 18 months to complete. Ewelina says: ‘It was the perfect way to study, attending university one day a week and then on-the-job training, combined with in-store mentoring and support provided by Mario.’

Discussing her career at Specsavers, Ewelina says: ‘It’s a great company to work for, offering lots of opportunity to progress and study for industry-related qualifications.

‘I’ve been fortunate as I have been able to study for my foundation degree while receiving support and mentoring from the store partners who are experts in their field.

‘I’m now thrilled to be part of the hearcare team at Specsavers Walton-on-Thames. Since joining three months ago, I have to say that everyone is amazing and very welcoming. Laura, my audiology director, is incredibly supportive and encouraging, and I am very much looking forward to furthering my skills and making a difference to the hearcare team and my patients.’

Laura Smith, audiology director, comments: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Ewelina to the team. We’re expanding our hearcare services over the coming months, so Ewelina will provide us with the extra resource and expertise to meet our customer demand.’
Specsavers Walton-on-Thames has a dedicated audiology centre offering customers a state-of-the-art room equipped with the latest soundproof technology and equipment for audiology services.

Free hearing checks are also available to customers and are a quick and efficient way for the team’s hearing experts to discover what’s going on with a customer’s hearing and if they would benefit from a full comprehensive hearing assessment.

Specsavers Walton-on-Thames offers a wide selection of hearing devices, a dedicated aftercare service as well as ear wax removal. It also provides options for a range of hearing protection for activities such as swimming, music, work, cycling or sleep plugs.
