Lewisham Shopping Centre has recorded a strong year, completing 12 store renewals and new lettings in the past 12 months, with additional big brand names on the horizon.
As plans progress for the wider redevelopment of the town centre, Lewisham Shopping Centre remains firmly rooted in and committed to its long-standing presence in the town since 1977. The centre continues to invest in and improve its spaces, while strengthening its retail line-up by securing long-term commitments with renewed leases from Superdrug, Card Factory, Poundland, Vodafone, EE, The Works and Waterstones, reinforcing the centre’s position as a key retail destination for the area.
Waterstones’ arrival to Lewisham Shopping Centre provided the only dedicated bookstore in the heart of the town centre, offering residents with easy access to a wide variety of books for all ages and interests.
International jewellery brand Lovisa opened in May last year, bringing its fashion-forward, trend-led collections inspired by global couture runways and street style.
In December, Model Market announced its highly anticipated return to Lewisham Shopping Centre in spring, promising to be bigger, bolder and better than ever. Championing small-scale, big-hearted local traders, it will offer a unique mix of micro-dining and retail experiences – from street-food favourites to innovative emerging makers. Serving as a vibrant and cultural hub in the heart of Lewisham, the venue will also host DJ sets, genre-spanning music, alongside a programme of events, pop-ups and cultural activations that blend food, music and art.
Wakuda Market has also returned to the centre’s Central Square. The weekly Saturday market will showcase a curated selection of Black-owned independent traders and makers from the African and Caribbean community, with offerings including handmade jewellery, skincare, contemporary African-inspired art and one-of-a-kind gifts.
Two additional new brands have also signed to join the centre’s line-up in 2026, and several existing retailers are planning refurbishments and store expansions. Further details to be announced soon.
Paul Redden, Centre Director at Lewisham Shopping Centre, commented: “For the last 50 years we’ve been right at the heart of the community. The amount of activity in the last year shows just how integral we still are, forging stronger relationships with our existing brand partners through renewed leases, while also welcoming new names not seen here before.
“In the coming months we will be announcing more new brands to our evolving line-up of retailers, alongside the popular return of The Model Market and Wakuda Market. Collectively, it shows the confidence brands have in our future and shows our continued commitment to serving residents, businesses and visitors alike.
“Lewisham Shopping Centre is firmly at the heart of the future plans we have here, remaining open throughout the next phase of transformation and an integral part of the future of the town centre.”
The owners of Lewisham Shopping Centre, Landsec, will be undergoing a staggered redevelopment, to create a new green district with a family park and wild meadow above a fully reimagined shopping centre.
The project, which will evolve over a number of phased developments, will feature new public spaces, a music venue with performance, rehearsal and production facilities for local creatives, alongside additional shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, generating thousands of jobs and contributing £160m annually to the local economy.
The plans also include thousands of new homes, including affordable housing reserved for key workers and affordable rent, cementing the centre’s role at the heart of a thriving, connected community.
Lewisham Shopping Centre will remain open and trading throughout the redevelopment, providing an opportunity for visitors to continue to shop and enjoy the town centre as work progresses.
