Missing People, the only UK charity dedicated to reconnecting missing people and their loved ones, were delighted to be awarded a grant of £16,100 from the Morrisons Foundation.

The donation will fund the charity’s vital ‘Text Lifeline’ project. This innovative project offers vulnerable children and adults across the UK a safe way home via a text message service that is run by the award-winning team at the Missing People charity, day and night.

Alex Livingstone, Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager at Missing People said: “We want to thank everyone at Morrisons Foundation for your support for those affected by missing at this critical moment. We know with the cost-of-living crisis more people will be facing an uncertain future, more people will want to disappear.

“The funding will pay for us to send a message offering free crisis support, via text message, to the phone of any child or adult reported missing. It will mean that vulnerable children and adults across the UK, those who see no escape, will be offered a safe way home via text message. This project will be effective in reaching people known to be in crisis offering an invaluable part of our lifeline.”

David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said: “Missing People charity offers vital support to vulnerable people and their families all around the country and I’m very proud that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help their crucial work”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching, over £38 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
