In celebration of the new blockbuster Jurassic World: Rebirth, 17 & Central is bringing a hands-on, dinosaur-themed experience to the Centre this summer. The activity will run every Saturday and Sunday from 26 July until 31 August.
Young explorers are invited to take part in an interactive Dinosaur Dig Adventure in the Centre Court from 11am-4pm (closed from 2-2.30pm), where they’ll discover what it’s really like to be a real-life palaeontologist. Each 30-minute session can accommodate 10 children, who will all receive their own excavation station complete with tools, a palaeontologist hat, and a fossil and dinosaur bone guidebook.
As they dig, children will uncover hidden fossils and follow clues to crack prehistoric puzzles. Each group will also enjoy an exclusive meet-and-greet with our adorable baby Velociraptor puppet. As well as helping to feed him, they will get a chance to guess his name and learn some amazing facts about this fascinating, extinct creature. At the end of each session, each mini explorer will receive a Junior Palaeontologist Certificate to proudly display at home.
As a special bonus, participants (aged 0-7 years) who snap a selfie at the event or pose next to our life-sized cardboard dinos for a fun family photo moment and tag 17 & Central on social media @17andcentral will get a free soft play session at Play Central, upstairs at CRATE Walthamstow.
And the fun doesn’t end there…
Hidden throughout the shopping centre are five colourful dinosaur stickers, but beware, as they’re not easy to spot! These cheeky dinos have made themselves at home in shop windows and they’re waiting for you to find them. Pick up a form from the Dinosaur Dig Adventure and once you’ve found all five, fill in the form on the back of the trail map and return it. Every completed entry will be entered into a prize draw on 5 September for the chance to win a £100 gift voucher.
“Dig, discover, and step into the world of dinosaurs here at 17 & Central,” said Gwendolyne Lobo, the shopping centre’s Marketing Manager. “Fans of the film will LOVE our summer activity. The dino fun is free, but we will be inviting guests to make a donation our charity of the year – Samaritans – so please ‘dig deep’ in every sense and have a GRRRReat time!! Fancy dress is not obligatory, but we’d love to see some mini dinosaurs walking around the Centre.”
