A&E patients at London hospitals could be forced to pay up to £76 for 24 hours of parking, new research has revealed.
The research, compiled by specialist discount car group Motorfinity, analysed parking charge data from over 120 of the UK’s top hospitals to determine which is the most expensive for patient and visitor car parking for a 24-hour period. The cost of six hours of parking was also included in the findings as a guide to highlight the difference in price.
With many hospitals now re-introducing parking charges for patients and staff, Motorfinity conducted the research to highlight just how much some hospitals are charging.
Topping the list of most expensive hospital parking in the UK is St Thomas’ Hospital in London as patients and visitors are charged a whopping £76.80 for 24 hours parking and £19.20 for just six hours.
London hospitals dominated the top end of the table with seven London hospitals featuring in the top 10.
Newcastle hospitals also ranked highly in the top 20 with Freeman Hospital and The Royal Victoria Infirmary ranking at number 13, charging a rate of £18 for 24 hours of parking.
