Today marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Ancestry, the global leader in family history recreated the iconic VE Day street party on London’s Southbank to commemorate 80 hidden heroes of World War II.
Ancestry’s “Table of History,” is an immersive installation which pays tribute to the hidden heroes of WWII, whether that was on the battlefields, in factories, in the Air Raid Precautions or supporting local communities on the home front. The activation honours 80 hidden heroes who made invaluable contributions to World War II and Victory in Europe, with their own commemorative plate and seat at the table. Ancestry is on a mission to trace down the relatives of each commemorative plate featured within the activation and would love your help doing so, but sharing with your readers.
This week, for a limited time only, over 2.5 million military records on Ancestry.co.uk will be available for free, including England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index and Death Index, enabling users to browse from 1102 different collections until 11th May.
