Southwark Council has appointed Hakeem Osinaike as the Strategic Director of Housing, who joins from Brent Council where he has been Director of Housing since 2017.

Hakeem Osinaike will officially join Southwark Council on 1st March 2024.

Commenting, leader of the Southwark Liberal Democrats Cllr Victor Chamberlain said:

“On behalf of the Southwark Liberal Democrats, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Hakeem Osinaike. Mr Osinaike takes on an incredibly challenging role at a critical time for Southwark’s Housing Department after a raft of scandals, massive overspends and delays, cancelled housing projects and loss of trust from residents.

Mr Osinaike is inheriting a huge and urgent to-do list, including a comprehensive, root and branch review into Southwark’s housing department. I am encouraging the incoming Housing Director to launch an independent audit of all major works programmes after the appalling scandals that have been revealed in last months. Mr Osinaike’s top priority must be to rebuild trust in Southwark’s broken housing department.”
