Professor Emma Wolverson has recently joined the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory (GIAM) at the University of West London (UWL) as Professor of Ageing and Dementia. Her role is research focused and she will be leading on funded research projects in dementia care.
Emma is Research Lead at Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity whose Admiral Nurses provide free, specialist advice, support and understanding to anyone affected by dementia via their Helpline, through their Clinics service, and in the community.
Part of Dementia UK’s Research and Publications Team, Professor Wolverson aims to improve the lives of people living with dementia and strengthen the evidence base for Admiral Nursing through national and international collaboration with world-leading researchers.
GIAM is a flagship Institute within UWL delivering interdisciplinary applied research and education. Their focus is on delivering the evidence to inform high quality health and social care to benefit people living with dementia, older people, and their care partners and families.
“I am excited to be joining GIAM’s vibrant and interdisciplinary team,” says Professor Wolverson.
“My research programme centres on times when people living with dementia and their families need more support, such as during a mental health crisis and at end of life.
“My hope is to deliver research that will have a real-world impact in health care settings and improve the care of people living with dementia and their families.”
