Abena Oppong-Asare MP has launched her annual Christmas card competition for 2026, inviting pupils of all ages attending primary schools in the Erith and Thamesmead constituency to enter.
This year’s theme is “Christmas in Our Community”. Pupils can draw or paint a festive design celebrating the people, places and traditions that bring their community together.
The winning artwork will become Ms Oppong-Asare’s official Christmas card, sent to more than 1,000 local residents, businesses and organisations, as well as the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House of Commons and His Majesty the King.
Last year’s winner was Tanvi, then a Year 1 pupil at Belvedere Infant School. Her winning design was inspired by Lesnes Abbey Woods Park, where she enjoys playing and making new friends.

“Every year, I’m impressed by the creativity of children across Erith and Thamesmead. This Christmas, I’d love to see them celebrate the people and places that make our community special.
“Whether it’s a favourite park, a local celebration or an act of kindness, I can’t wait to see what inspires them.”
Entries close on Friday 6 November 2026. The winners will be announced in an email to all participating schools shortly after the deadline.
