This autumn, Ted’s Crazy Golf will open the doors to its first London venue at 78 Great Eastern Street, transforming the former home of Temper into a surreal playground of monsters, animatronics, art installations, twisted characters, nostalgic Americana and seriously strange crazy golf.
The new 5,500sq. ft venue will open at the end of October, featuring two 9-hole courses, giant animatronics, talking gargoyles, a gothic graveyard, a vampire toy shop, creepy characters and a world built from pure imagination. Something strange is coming to Shoreditch, but this is not crazy golf as you know it.
Created by Larissa Sophie Houghton, co-founder of experience-led hospitality company Anger MGMT Venues, Ted’s Crazy Golf is built around a fascination with one thing: making the impossible feel real.
The immersive Shoreditch venue will build on the strange and wonderfully twisted world first introduced at Ted’s Crazy Golf in Oxford, which opened in August 2026, while introducing a brand new course created exclusively for London.
Inspired by late-1980s and early-1990s Americana, cult movies, comedy horror and nostalgic pop culture, Ted’s Crazy Golf has been designed as an entirely original world where fantasy, freaks and strange surprises wait around every corner.
Behind the monsters is Larissa, a magician and experience designer whose childhood fascination with R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books, haunted houses and imaginary creatures has shaped her approach to creating immersive entertainment.
With more than a decade of experience creating venues, experiences and art installations, Larissa combines her background in magic with storytelling, art and theatrical production to turn ideas that once existed only in her imagination into physical worlds people can step inside.
Larissa Sophie Houghton, co-founder of Ted’s Crazy Golf, said: “I was absolutely obsessed with R.L. Stine growing up. I was always reading Goosebumps and imagining these monsters and completely ridiculous worlds in my head. I think a huge part of my creative brain still comes from that place.”
“I’ve always loved the idea that something can exist purely in your imagination and then, somehow, you can make it real. That’s really what creating impossible experiences is about for me.”

So, what can London expect? At Shoreditch, guests will be able to take on courses Bad Bones, the gothic graveyard and Toy Bites, a brand-new 9-hole experience created exclusively for London.
The first course, Bad Bones, will take guests on a trip to the ‘other side’ through a gothic graveyard filled with trash-talking gargoyles, Evil Iris, the man-eating Venus flytrap, skeletons, serpents, zombie hands and creatures lurking in the shadows.
The second course, Toy Bites, is a completely new 9-hole experience created exclusively for London. Part toyshop, part vampire nightmare, Toy Bites takes instantly familiar childhood toys and turns them into something far more sinister. The toys have come to life and turned into bloodthirsty vampires.
The course will feature a six-foot vampire robot, Scare Bear strapped to an operating table and Buddy in a Box, Ted’s twisted take on the classic jack-in-the-box, alongside a host of other toys that have developed some seriously bloodthirsty personalities.
Packed full of large-scale installations, animatronics, original characters and unexpected surprises, Toy Bites has been designed to feel less like a traditional round of crazy golf and more like stepping inside a horror-comedy film.
Both courses form part of the strange world of Ted Montgomery, a larger-than-life Californian who, back in the late 1980s, ran one of the West Coast’s most unusual crazy golf courses by day and collected comedy-horror memorabilia by night.
His garage was packed with vintage monster masks, animatronics, movie posters, creepy toys, haunted carnival props and other oddities. Now, decades later, his world is being brought to life for a new generation, inviting guests into a strange dimension somewhere between the mystery of Goosebumps, the imagination of The NeverEnding Story and the weirdness of Beetlejuice.
“I don’t want people to just come and play crazy golf,” says Houghton. “I want them to have an experience they weren’t expecting. We live in a digital world, with too many screens. I want people to walk through the door and feel like they’ve left London behind for a couple of hours.”
Alongside the golf, the Shoreditch venue will bring Ted’s full food and drink experience to London, including The Deadbeat Diner, a twisted take on a retro American diner, as well as its bar and caddy service.
Guests can expect cocktails, milkshakes, ice-cream floats, frozen slushies, pizzas, hot dogs and more, making the venue a new destination for date nights, nights out, work socials and groups of friends.
The Shoreditch announcement follows the opening of the first Ted’s Crazy Golf venue at Westgate Oxford in August 2026. With a bigger venue and a brand new course waiting behind the doors, London marks the next step in bringing the world of Ted’s to life.
