The University of West London (UWL) has over the last two weeks welcomed more than 2,000 new students to its Ealing, Reading and Ruskin campuses, before the new academic year gets underway next week.
The Student Welcome programme consisted of a packed timetable of events and drop-in sessions, laying the foundations for academic success and a vibrant student community throughout the year ahead.
It is a central part of the University’s commitment to student experience and satisfaction and is supported by colleagues from across the University. It offers a comprehensive schedule of induction and support activities designed to help students transition smoothly into university life. From academic and course introductions to social events, wellbeing workshops, and opportunities to connect with support teams, the programme ensures new students are fully equipped to succeed from the outset of their studies.
The in-person activity forms part of a wider welcome journey that begins well before students set foot on campus. Over the summer, engagement included regular update emails and “prepare to study” workshops, while tailored sessions support international students to acclimatise to life in London. Dedicated inductions are also provided for PhD and Apprenticeship students.
