On Saturday, 26th September, local Franchisee, John Loizou, who owns and operates 12 restaurants in the North London area, celebrated the inaugural McHappy Day® at their Enfield and North London restaurants.
Restaurants up and down the country organised their own fundraising efforts, hosting fundraising activities involving the local community. John Loizou and their team went above and beyond with a family fun day for the local community to enjoy at the Enfield restaurant. These activities included family games, a raffle and face painting.
In total, the team raised an incredible £10,000 for Ronald McDonald House UK in their restaurant through their efforts. John Loizou has been a continued supporter of Ronald McDonald House UK, previously organising themed sponsored walks with local crew members, raising over £12,000.
Local McDonald’s Franchisee, John Loizou, said: ‘It has been a heartwarming experience to support McHappy Day® this year. It’s a charity close to my heart and I’m very proud of the crew in the Enfield restaurant for going the extra mile to bring the community together and to raise funds for the houses across the UK including my local Evelina House. We look forward to continuing to support RMH UK in the future.”
McHappy Day® launched this year in the UK as a nation-wide fundraising drive, with all restaurants donating £1 to Ronald McDonald House UK for every qualifying main meal sold. Additional funds were raised through local fundraising activities and support from McDonald’s Franchisees, suppliers and customers.
McDonald’s also launched a limited-edition drop of Grimace Beanies, available for £5 at the Kiosks in restaurants or via the McDonald’s App for collection. All proceeds from the sale of the beanies will be donated straight to Ronald McDonald House UK.
The ambition was to raise over £1.5 million to contribute to Ronald McDonald House UK’s unwavering support for families with seriously ill children across the UK*. Find out more about McHappy Day® here.
Ronald McDonald House UK provides free accommodation and support for families with children in hospital, allowing them to stay together just moments from their child’s bedside. The charity operates 14 Houses across the UK and, in 2025 alone, supported 8,488 families who stayed an average of 16 nights.
Without this support, families can face significant accommodation and travel costs while their child receives treatment away from home. Ronald McDonald House UK helps ease these pressures by providing a welcoming place to stay close to hospital.
