Thousands of walkers transformed central London into a Halloween parade this weekend as the London Halloween Walk filled the capital’s streets with witches, skeletons, superheroes, ghosts and ghouls.

Participants completed either a 25km Halloween hike or the 10km spooky stroll, in an extraordinary array of costumes. It is the final event each year in the Ultra Challenge Series, and the eye-catching outfits on show once again made this one of the series’ most memorable events.

Starting and finishing at The Oval Cricket Ground, which was transformed into a Halloween-themed hub for the occasion, walkers of all ages embraced the spirit of the Halloween as they marched past iconic landmarks as the Thames riverside provided a dramatic backdrop for a night of celebration.

The event, organised by Ultra Challenge, has become one of London’s most distinctive seasonal experiences, combining the atmosphere of a Halloween festival with the energy of a mass participation challenge.

This year’s event saw friends, families, work colleagues and charity teams come together to enjoy a unique evening out in the capital. Around £150k was raised by participants for a number of national and regional charities.

With another successful year of challenges complete, organisers are already looking ahead to next year’s Ultra Challenge Series, when thousands of walkers up and down the country will conquer incredible distances once again.
