The RSPCA is appealing for information after a man was seen putting pigeons into plastic bags in London before walking off with them.

The incident occurred at around 5.30pm on 21 October at Whitfield Gardens, London. A witness reported seeing a male feeding pigeons before picking them up and putting them into plastic bags.
RSPCA Inspector Kirsten Ormerod said: “It is an offence to take a wild bird, unless under licence, so we are very keen to establish what happened and where the birds are now, as we are concerned about their welfare.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed this or has any CCTV footage from the area at around 5.30pm on 21st October to get in touch with us.”

As part of its investigations, the RSPCA has released an image of a man who was in the area at the time, as the charity believes he may have vital information that is relevant to the incident.

Kirsten added: “This man was in the area at the time and we hope will have important information to help our enquiries.”

Anyone with relevant information or CCTV footage is asked to contact the RSPCA Inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018, quoting reference number 01930831.

All wild birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and it is illegal to deliberately kill, injure or take one, except under licence.
