A helping paw – London pet charity shops appeal for volunteers

Pet charity stores in London are calling on the local community to offer their time in a drive for volunteers.

Several PDSA shops across London are appealing to locals who have spare time to volunteer and help make a difference to the lives of sick and injured animals. With short or long-term positions available, the community is invited to commit any spare time.

The stores raise funds to help sick or injured pets, supporting PDSA’s vital veterinary work across its 49 Pet Hospitals. The charitable service is available for eligible pet owners who are struggling to afford essential veterinary treatments, providing free and low-cost vet care that keeps people together with their much-loved pets.

PDSA Volunteering Business Partner, Jennie Pearson said: “We’d love to welcome some new, friendly local faces to come and visit their nearby store in London, where they can join our brilliant teams of volunteers and make a difference to pets across the country.

“For those with time to spare, volunteering can be a great way to gain a sense of purpose, while meeting new people within the local community and improving knowledge and skills for future employment prospects. Our stores are busier than ever, so any help is always very much appreciated.

“Whether to have a browse around, dedicate some time to working in the shop, or simply donate unwanted items – we’re incredibly grateful to the local community for whatever support they can offer.

“We’d love for people with time to spare for a good cause to come and see why so many get involved and start your volunteering journey here at one of the London stores.”

PDSA shops across London looking for helping hands include the Barking, Leyton, Waltham Cross, Kentish Town, Kilburn, and Orpington stores.
