A new London-based orchestra that supports young musicians at the start of their careers is back for its second season, with a series of autumn concert projects.
Building on the success of its debut season, the 2025 autumn programme features three concerts led by Emerging Conductors Tess Jackson and Charlotte Politi, alongside Chromatica’s Founding Artistic Director Peter Manning.
Together, they present three exciting concerts that reflect the ensemble’s artistic ambition and inclusive programming ethos.
Opening at Kings Place on 10 September, the first concert features Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, Purcell’s Fantasies for Strings, and the European premiere of Peter Manning’s orchestral arrangement of Tippett’s Time Past, Time Present and Time Future, following its world premiere in New Zealand earlier that year.
On 22 October, the orchestra returns to Battersea Arts Centre with Charlotte Politi conducting a compelling programme that contrasts Britten’s Soirées Musicales with Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, evoking themes of light and shadow. This appearance continues Chromatica’s growing relationship with the venue, with additional collaborative events planned for later in the season.
The autumn series concludes on 1 November at Dorking Halls, where Peter Manning conducts a dynamic pairing of Mozart’s Haffner Symphony and Bartók’s Concerto for Percussion, Celesta and Strings.
In addition to its concert series, Chromatica deepens its educational outreach through Orchestrate, an initiative that connects professional musicians with secondary school students. Continuing relationships with the Bobby Moore Academy and the MiSST programme, the orchestra offers a range of creative and performance opportunities for young players throughout the season.
