Today, King Charles III sailed with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, ahead of the company launching the UK’s first all-electric ferry this summer.

His Majesty boarded hybrid passenger boat Mars Clipper to discover how Uber Boat by Thames Clippers is making river transport in London more sustainable.

The River Bus service provider has three hybrid vessels including Mars Clipper that operate on battery power in Central London, before recharging to continue their journey outside of this zone. Orbit Clipper, the UK’s first electric-powered, zero emission passenger ferry, is scheduled to join the fleet in 2025.

Sean Collins, CEO of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, accompanied His Majesty on the journey from Westminster Pier to Blackfriars Pier, featuring some of London’s iconic landmarks. His Majesty enjoyed spectacular views of the Houses of Parliament and London Eye

While sailing along the River Thames, The King and Mr Collins discussed how Orbit Clipper and the River Bus company’s hybrid vessels make river transport more sustainable for commuters and leisure travellers in London.

Welcoming His Majesty on board Mars Clipper was a great honour for everyone at Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, according to Mr Collins.

“We are delighted that The King accepted our invitation to board and experience one of our hybrid vessels, he said.

“His Majesty is incredibly passionate about sustainability and the environment – issues that we touched on while discussing how Orbit Clipper, along with our hybrid vessels, will make London transport greener and more efficient.

“One of our core objectives is to make London transport more sustainable, with Orbit Clipper a key component of this ongoing strategy.
