Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL), a charity supporting asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants in South East London, has appointed Chloe White as its new chief executive.
Chloe has worked at AFRIL since 2022 as deputy director. She led the organisation’s casework and policy service, providing legal advice on individual immigration cases while influencing national policy. She helped triple the size of the casework service and initiated strategic litigation to challenge poor conditions in asylum accommodation.
Chloe said: “I’m proud to take on this new role and build on AFRIL’s work supporting refugees and migrants in our community. At a time when many vulnerable people face growing barriers, my priority is to ensure they can access the advice and support they need while continuing to press the government for fairer policies.”
Chloe has extensive experience in politics, human rights and immigration. Prior to joining AFRIL, she worked for the British Red Cross in its refugee services, and for a charity tackling immigration detention. She also spent time in UK politics, working for a Member of Parliament and shadow cabinet member.
