A mystery animal lover is giving a dog charity up to £100,000 by doubling every pound they raise by the end of the year.
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust — which supports science, research and welfare for dogs — this week launches a Double the Pawprint campaign fronted by a new love-heart paw logo.
They aim to raise £100,000 in donations in just seven months, which will be matched pound for pound by the mystery donor.
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Chairman Bill King said: “‘The decision by one of our long-term supporters to double everything we can raise this year is such an incredible boost to all the work we need to do.
“We can’t thank them enough for their astonishing kindness. The difference this will make to the health and welfare of dogs in Britain is absolutely ground-breaking.”
The double-your-money scheme will create a potential funding pot of £200,000 to share with organisations doing incredible work in the fields of canine science and research, medical and support dog training and welfare projects.
The Trust also plans to celebrate two decades of support for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, with a partnership agreement of committed funding over the next six years, leading up to The Kennel Club Charitable Trust’s 40th anniversary in 2027. To celebrate this special anniversary, the Trust has committed up to £300,000 in funding to support the Battersea Academy, which works with rescue organisations throughout the UK and overseas.
Bill said: “The Battersea Academy is a lifeline to so many smaller canine welfare charities who need help to make their operations more sustainable, efficient and professional. By funding much-needed grants and training sessions that enable Battersea’s world-class team to share their expertise, we have an opportunity to change the lives of thousands of dogs, every year. Ultimately, our aim is to keep tails wagging by supporting those who do so much to rescue, train and rehome many of our must vulnerable four-legged friends”.
Peter Laurie, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s Chief Executive, adds: “We are delighted that The Kennel Club Charitable Trust have chosen us as their anniversary partner. It is only through initiatives such as this and the support of our other donors that we are able to continue our vital work to help dogs and cats beyond our gates.”
A key part of the campaign is new branding for The Kennel Club Charitable Trust, which features a love-heart pawprint.
Bill added: “The decision to refresh the Trust’s image with a design that feels inclusive, warm and contemporary, is all about saying we’re here to improve the health and welfare of all dogs, no matter what their breed or circumstances. As our strapline says, we are here to make a difference for dogs.”
