Andy Murray joined Walker’s Shortbread in Wimbledon town centre yesterday serving up classic strawberries with a Scottish twist for tennis fans.

It’s not British tennis season without strawberries and cream, but this year, former World No.1 Andy Murray and the famous Shortbread maker Walker’s Shortbread are stirring things up for fans. Inspired by Andy’s famous cheeky comment about enjoying eating strawberries “with my fingers”, the duo offered tennis goers the chance to try ‘Andy Murray’s Signature Serve’, a playful reimagining of the summer treat.

The new serve was officially unveiled on 3rd July at the bustling Wimbledon Piazza, where Andy Murray embraced his new role as the first ever ambassador for the 127-year-old family business, by serving samples to delighted fans.

Complete with a Walker’s Shortbread baker’s apron, Murray cheekily questioned fans on how they eat their strawberries – with those answering ‘with my fingers’ securing the chance to taste ‘Andy’s Signature Serve’.

Andy Murray, tennis champion and Walker’s Shortbread brand ambassador, said:
“For me the best way to enjoy strawberries and cream is with my fingers – and I love that Walker’s have created this special treat with their delicious Shortbread fingers inspired by that.

“I like to eat my strawberries whole, the bigger the better. Strawberries with Walker’s Shortbread fingers is a classic serve.”

Combining fresh, whole strawberries with a swirl of cream and Walker’s iconic all-butter shortbread fingers, the serve reinvents the classic staple enjoyed since its first appearance in 1877.

For tennis fans not at the tournament Andy Murray has created a video with a step-by-step guide to achieve the perfect ‘Andy Murray Serve’ dish. Check out the video tutorial here: https://youtu.be/3DmBw2VMHJ8
