Today, John Lewis has launched an exclusive collaboration with John Cooper, the winner of BBC One’s Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr. Following the highly anticipated finale last night, customers can now shop the full range of homewares online on johnlewis.com and selected pieces in all 34 John Lewis stores across the UK.
Celebrating the 6th series, the collection features over 20 items across a range of homewares including bedding, candles, cushions, fabric (by the metre), table lamps, a throw, a tote, towels, a quilt, wall art and a reimagined iconic John Lewis Blocky Chair.
John Cooper met John Lewis’s in-house design team just two days after the whirlwind filming concluded, to start designing the collaboration in time for launch. Every product tells a story, with many nostalgically named after places from where he grew up in Yorkshire.
John Cooper, winner of Interior Design Masters Series 6 said: “The opportunity to create my own line of homewares with John Lewis, as a prize for winning BBC’s Interior Design Masters, has been an incredible experience. Together, we have designed homeware rooted in bold design, raw texture, and honest materials. It’s a collection with soul, made to bring warmth, character, and a bit of edge into the home. I am extremely proud of the collection and cannot wait to see it in stores!”
The show, which started on 10 April, gave novice designers the opportunity to win the chance to design their very own homeware collection in collaboration with the much-loved retailer’s talented, in-house design team. This is the first time the retailer has offered this prize to the winner of the series.
Jason Wilary-Attew, Director of Home at John Lewis, said: “We’re thrilled to launch our latest collaboration with John, bringing his unique creative vision to life in an exclusive new collection, now available to shop at John Lewis.
“Following in the footsteps of standout partnerships with Sanderson, Collagerie and Matthew Williamson, this launch continues our commitment to championing emerging talent while cementing our position as the home of radically relevant design. By blending our own-brand expertise with distinctive, design-led collaborations, we’re proud to offer our customers something truly original and full of character.”
Fionnuala Johnston, Lead Textiles Home Designer at John Lewis and worked with John on the designs, said: “John came to us with a really clear creative vision – and collaborating with him was a real joy from start to finish. He had a strong sense of style and brought brilliant ideas to the table, from the initial sketches to the colour palette, which features a combination of monochrome and a warm toffee tone that feels both personal and on trend.
“We worked closely to translate his designs into high-street-ready pieces, exploring materials, textured base cloths, and thoughtful embroidered details that bring the whole collection to life. It was a genuinely inspiring and collaborative process, and the result is a collection that feels considered, heartfelt, and full of personality.”
