With the new series of The Apprentice this week, 2014 winner Mark Wright has said he’d be even more successful if he’d been able to study the new Social Media Marketing degree at the University of West London (UWL).
Digital entrepreneur Mark – whom Lord Sugar picked as the winner of the 2014 instalment of The Apprentice – is the face of a new video all about how social media skills can lead to fantastic career opportunities for a new generation of young people.
Starting this academic year, students at the university’s Claude Littner Business School (CLBS) are learning how to turn their prowess on various online platforms into well-paid careers, on the BSc (Hons) Social Media Marketing course – an innovative new degree for tomorrow’s business professionals.
Speaking with UWL at the video shoot in the east London offices of his successful web business, Climb Online, Mark said: ‘I am so jealous: if this course had been around when I was starting out, I would be even further along than I am now.
‘Social Media is becoming the new Google; it’s a massive source to generate business. It used to be five percent of our business and now it’s 45% and it is predicted by 2019 that 80% of social media will be consumed by video. We must keep up with the demand because if you’re not first, you’re last.’
