In the heart of Shoreditch, a new piece of graffiti appeared overnight that takes aim at none other than Banksy himself. The work, discovered on a wall on Allen Gardens – known as Alien Gardens by locals – consists of three provocative questions, like an open letter to the world’s most elusive street artist:
“Dear Banksy,
Who are you?
Why do u do what u do?
What difference does it make?”
The enigmatic message is signed simply with three letters: I AM.
Who is behind this bold move? No one knows. But the intervention is already stirring curiosity — and debate — in a neighbourhood long associated with the guerrilla art movement.
Is it a challenge, an homage, or the start of a conversation Banksy can’t ignore?
