Bar Douro London Bridge is thrilled to announce that it is reopening, following a refurbishment on Tuesday 20th May. The restaurant will be celebrating by throwing a vibrant, month-long series of festivities on its terrace in honour of Portugal’s Festas dos Santos Populares (the Festivals of the Popular Saints), which are celebrated in Portugal throughout June. These celebrations bring friends, family and neighbours together and are integral to Portuguese history.
Inspired by the traditional summer festivals of Portugal, every Sunday Bar Douro will celebrate the spirit of Santo António, São João, and São Pedro in London Bridge. Guests can expect the aroma of grilled sardines and peppers, traditional broa (corn bread), live traditional Portuguese music, and plenty of Super Bock beer, one of Portugal’s most popular, refreshing and iconic drinks as well as Vinho Verde, a delightful Portuguese wine. Drawing inspiration from the joyous street parties of Lisbon and Porto, Bar Douro aims to create a warm, communal atmosphere reminiscent of Portugal’s rich heritage of Festas.
Max Graham, Bar Douro Founder, comments: “We are incredibly excited to re-open Bar Douro London Bridge and share the joy of the Festas dos Santos Populares with our guests.”
There will be a Festa each Sunday in June, from 12-8pm on the terrace at Bar Douro London Bridge. Live music from 2-4pm, kicking things off on Sunday 1st June with the singer and guitarist João Menezes.
