Barbs, the Caribbean food brand redefining how Britain experiences Bajan cuisine, has landed in Shoreditch, opening its first restaurant space at the iconic Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch.

Following the success of its Deliveroo Editions kitchen and the launch of its Bajan signature sauces earlier this year, Barbs is turning up the heat.

The official opening on Wednesday evening marked a defining moment for the brand, transforming its loyal delivery following into a vibrant, dine-in experience.

Barbs brings the real taste of Barbados to Shoreditch, celebrating the island’s spirit of flavour, togetherness and joy in one of London’s most creative spaces. Queen of Hoxton is Shoreditch’s legendary rooftop playground, a landmark venue where nightlife, art and creativity collide.

Part of the Mothership Group, it stands as one of East London’s most iconic destinations for culture, community and unforgettable nights out.

“This is a proud step for us. Barbs is all about real food and real Bajan flavour, cooked the way it’s meant to be,” says Nicc Wright, Founder of Barbs. “We’ve taken our family recipes and traditional techniques and created something that feels completely at home in Shoreditch.”

The new Barbs at Queen of Hoxton menu blends authentic island cooking with modern fast casual dining. Every dish is made from scratch with wholesome ingredients and crafted with soul, inspired by family recipes passed down through generations, and bursting with the bold flavours Barbados is known for.

Barbs is known for its bold dishes that capture the flavour of Barbados in every bite:
● Bajan Fried Chicken and Fried Fish Burgers – marinated in authentic green seasoning from a cherished family recipe, served with soused cucumber, crispy onions and the cult favourite Fancy Sauce.
● Bajan Roti Wraps – soft, flavour-packed island staples beloved by locals and travellers alike, filled with Curry Chicken and Potato or Chickpea and Potato.
● Bajan Fishcakes and Pumpkin Fritters – classic street food favourites that bring the vibrant taste of Barbados’ markets to Shoreditch.
● Mac Pie Balls – Barbs’ creative twist on the traditional Bajan macaroni pie, crispy on the outside, rich and cheesy inside, served with a fermented sweet chilli dip.
● Soused Guac and Barbs Wings – both inspired by the bright, citrus flavours of souse, one of Barbados’ best-loved dishes.
● Piña Colada Waffle, a playful remix of the island’s iconic cocktail, served with pineapple sorbet, coconut ice cream and coconut drizzle for pure tropical indulgence.

Every dish on the Barbs menu comes with a splash of island flavour: a line up of house-made sauces that capture the island’s signature balance of spice, sweetness and tang.

From the creamy Fancy Sauce and herby Mayo to the fiery Bajan Hot Pepper Sauce made with cucumber, turmeric and mustard, each one is crafted in-house to hit those bold flavours just right.

Queen of Hoxton, known for its creativity, culture and community, provides the perfect home for Barbs’ first restaurant. Together, the partnership opens a new chapter for both brands, blending the vibrant energy of Shoreditch with the soul and authenticity of Barbados.

“We’re excited to welcome Barbs into the Queen of Hoxton family,” says Andy Maddocks, Managing Director of Mothership Group. “It’s a brand that brings real quality and originality to the table, and we can’t wait for people to experience it.”
