BARRATT LONDON WINS INTERNATIONAL GREEN APPLE AWARD FOR WEMBLEY PARK GARDENS DEVELOPMENT

Barratt London, in partnership with Reconomy UK Ltd, have been recognised for environmental excellence, winning an International Green Apple Environment Award, for their joint sustainable efforts at for Wembley Park Gardens. The award is a prestigious global accolade, celebrating organisations that demonstrate leadership in sustainability and environmental best practises.

Chosen from over 1,200 nominations worldwide, the award was presented at a glittering awards ceremony at Kensington Palace, London. With its rich royal heritage and iconic status as a venue for internationally significant events, the palace provided the perfect backdrop to honour organisations championing sustainability and innovation.

The independent judging panel of The Green Apple Awards, organised by the independent non-profit Green Organisation, commended Wembley Park Gardens for the innovative and comprehensive approach to sustainability: “Reconomy and Barratt London’s Wembley Park Gardens emphasises sustainability with reduced waste, green spaces, and efficient waste hierarchy practices. Materials are reused, pallets and paint tubs recycled and residuals diverted from landfills. On-site recycling includes PPE, batteries and vapes, while waste segregation and crane-assisted skip exchanges ensure minimal environmental impact.”

The recognition also sees Barratt London shortlisted for the prestigious Green World Awards, the largest environmental awards programme, which brings together the world’s most innovative sustainability projects from both private and public sectors. attracting entries from across the private and public sectors.

Wembley Park Gardens is a collection of 302 homes located on the site of a former TfL car park. The development benefits from 22 new trees, a green roof and over 10,000 sq ft of shared green space, including a children’s play area. Wembley Park Gardens has been designed to be eco-friendly through its trade specific recycling zones and its reuse of timber off cuts.
