Battersea Arts Centre (BAC) today announces an advanced look at the groundbreaking contemporary performance on offer in its autumn programme, including:
The UK premiere of Back to Back Theatre’s ‘The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes’ in the Grand Hall, co-created by their award winning ensemble of neurodiverse artists. The revelatory theatrical experience explores human rights, sexual politics and the projected dominance of artificial intelligence (19-22 Oct).
The UK premiere of ‘JEZEBEL’ by Cherish Menzo (6-14 Oct), a dance performance deconstructing and redefining how Black women are represented in the media, inspired by the Video Vixen phenomenon from ’90s hip hop culture.
The London premiere of ‘The Trauma Show’ by Demi Nandhra (20 Oct – 5 Nov), exploring the impacts of adverse childhoods, ‘therapise’ culture, and how TikTok can heal us all, alongside a radical approach to audience care.
‘Contemporary Dance 2.0’ by Hofesh Shechter Company (26-29 Oct). Acclaimed apprentice company Shechter II returns to BAC’s Grand Hall with work that is dipped in ironic references to pop culture, unleashing the intensity of Shechter’s signature ensemble work combined with an eclectic sound-score with euphoric feel and throbbing beats.
Tickets are now available to friends and members, with booking open to the public from 12noon on Friday 17 June 2022 via bac.org.uk.
To make its work accessible to as wide an audience as possible, all events in the autumn 2022 programme are part of BAC’s universal Pay What You Can pricing model, while BSL interpreted, captioned and Relaxed performances will be available throughout the season.
