As part of Wandsworth’s London Borough of Culture 2025 celebrations, Battersea Park in Concert returns for another unmissable summer weekend of live music and community celebration. From 23rd – 25th August, this spectacular event will bring breathtaking performances and pure musical magic to one of Wandsworth’s most iconic green spaces. Against the stunning backdrop of Battersea Park, audiences will experience three brand new, specially curated outdoor concerts. Join the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra for Symphonic Disco and A Night at the Movies, both conducted by Pete Harrison, and Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra supported by an afternoon of top UK jazz talent.
SYMPHONIC DISCO
Celebrate good times on Saturday 23rd August as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra led by Pete Harrison are joined by a full disco band and special guest singers to reimagine a plethora of disco classics. Featuring music from the halcyon days of Studio 54, through to disco’s chart-topping era and right up to the current artists, this unique take on the seminal clubland genre is guaranteed to have Battersea Park up on its feet!
Sparkling mirrors balls will adorn the summer night’s sky as the incredible Royal Philharmonic add grandeur and impact to hits from ABBA, Earth Wind & Fire,
Dua Lipa, Sister Sledge, Chic, Kool & The Gang, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Donna
Summer, Boney M, Bee Gees and many more.
Support comes from Ronnie Scott’s resident soulstress Natalie Williams and her band, presenting a selection of sunny-side-up soul classics to get the party started in style.
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
Sunday 24th August, gather family and friends to join the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra for A Night at the Movies, a journey through the most exhilarating, fun and moving movie music of all time. Culminating in a magnificent fireworks finale and all set to the backdrop of a wonderful summer’s evening in Battersea Park.
Witness the work of John Williams and Hans Zimmer performed by a world-class orchestra, with pieces from Star Wars, Inception, Harry Potter, Pirates of The Caribbean and more. They’ll be all-action moments with music from James Bond and How to Train Your Dragon, retro fun with tunes from Pretty Woman and Ghostbusters plus music from Love Actually, Wicked and many more for all ages.
Support comes Matt Ford, one of the UK’s most experienced Jazz and Swing Era vocalists and his band, celebrating songs from the golden age of Broadway to Hollywood.
JOOLS HOLLAND & HIS RHYTHM AND BLUES ORCHESTRA
The master of boogie woogie Jools Holland and his exceptional orchestra will be accompanied by special guest and fellow Squeeze member Chris Difford, plus long-standing collaborators Louise Marshall and Sumudu Jayatilaka on vocals and Blues guitar prodigy Toby Lee.
Preceding will be a summer’s afternoon of top UK jazz, featuring saxophonist sensation YolanDa Brown, the double MOBO Award winning artist who last graced our stage in 2023, whose return to Battersea Park was hotly requested. Along with Ella Fitzgerald Reimagined, a special one-off show showcasing the greatest hits from the jazz and swing legend reinterpreted by British jazz royalty Jacqui Dankworth, Elaine Delmar and Ian Shaw.
And that’s not all; gifted jazz singer-songwriter Marvin Muoneké will be blessing us with his smooth bass-baritone voice. Bringing the songs and sounds of mid-20th century jazz to modern listeners of all ages.
Battersea Park in Concert is much more than just music; it’s an experience to be savoured. Battersea Park in Concert is proud to be part of Wandsworth’s 2025 London Borough of Culture programme. Chosen by Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Wandsworth Council is leading the year-long celebration, in partnership with local people and organisations, featuring hundreds of cultural events and creative initiatives, taking place from April 2025 – March 2026.
The event will continue to provide an allocation of ‘Access for All’ discounted entrance tickets, as part of its commitment to the Wandsworth Council programme.
