This World Book Day, Battersea Power Station will launch A Station of Stories, a new year-long celebration of storytelling that brings books, creativity and imagination to life across the riverside neighbourhood in celebration of 2026 being the National Year of Reading.

Across the year, Battersea Power Station will host a series of literary moments designed to turn the iconic landmark into a destination for story lovers of all ages. From playful family experiences to ticketed cultural events, A Station of Stories invites visitors to slow down, get creative and rediscover the joy of a good book.

Kicking off on World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, Battersea Power Station will launch A Station of Stories with a special Mr Men Little Miss collaboration, delivered in partnership with Sanrio and Farshore, part of HarperCollins Publishers.

To mark the launch, Battersea Power Station will welcome local primary schools to take part in a playful, story-led experience inspired by the Mr Men Little Miss universe. The launch event will feature a story creation session hosted by the book series’ illustrator Adam Hargreaves, alongside storytelling sessions and a Mr Men Little Miss treasure hunt inside the Grade II* listed Power Station. A group photo moment and activity throughout the morning will complete the launch, creating a colourful start to the year-long programme.

Additional free creative workshops will take place across the weekend and photo opportunities with characters will be available on Thursday 5th March, inviting families to get involved and experience the magic at their own pace.

Sarah Banham, Head of Community and Sustainability at Battersea Power Station Development Company said:
“The Power Station is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, and with such a rich and fascinating history, it is a place that is quite literally bursting with stories. We’re therefore thrilled to be bringing A Station of Stories to Battersea Power Station as part of the National Year of Reading 2026. The year-long campaign will offer a truly jam-packed calendar of activities, events, and experiences perfect for visitors of all ages to get involved in, and we hope visitors will leave feeling inspired, entertained, and with a renewed appreciation for reading.”
As part of the wider programme, Battersea Power Station’s cultural spaces and retailers will continue to bring A Station of Stories to life throughout the year. This includes family-friendly theatre productions such as The House at Pooh Corner at Arches Lane Theatre, alongside writing workshops and creative sessions hosted by brands including Moleskine, special literary moments at Waterstones, and ‘In Conversation’ book readings with authors celebrating the architecture and design of Battersea at Battersea Power Supplies Museum and Gift Shop. Additional activity planned by a selection of the 170 shops, bars, restaurants and cultural spaces open across the riverside neighbourhood will be announced throughout the year.

In celebration of ‘Gruffalo Granny’ releasing in September, the first Gruffalo book in 20 years, Where The Pancakes Are will mark the occasion with Gruffalo-inspired pancakes.

The Chimney Lift are also relaunching their popular Peppa Pig Meet and Greets. Available from Monday 30th March, Peppa Pig will appear every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during term time, offering families a relaxed opportunity to meet Peppa and experience one of London’s most distinctive attractions together.

Later in the year, A Station of Stories will also expand with a wine tasting and book club event at The Wine Circuit, which will be returning to Battersea Power Station from 12th – 14th June. Throughout the programme, visitors will also be invited to pause and unwind in a series of specially created “Read & Relax” nooks positioned across Battersea Power Station. These welcoming spaces will feature comfortable seating, soft lighting and ambient soundscapes, with books and notebooks available for visitors to enjoy on site.
