Bella, a six-year-old, 64kg St Bernard, has found her happy ending after being adopted from Dogs Trust West London at the end of June by devoted new owner, Joshua Jenkinson from Hampshire.
Bella’s new family previously adopted one of the heaviest dogs to ever reside at the rehoming centre, six-year-old Chunkie, a 60kg Boerboel. Chunkie was also the first ever Boerboel (also known as South African Mastiff) to ever be a resident at the West London rehoming centre.
Sadly, Chunkie passed away at the end of 2021 and left a big space in his family’s heart. They were hoping to find another set of big paws to fill the gap! Bella’s large paws were a ‘pawfect’ fit and her new family clearly have huge hearts and plenty of love to give to the larger-than-life hounds!

“After the devastating loss of Chunkie, we’re so delighted that Joshua decided again to share some big love to another friendly giant and adopt Bella. We can’t thank Joshua enough for adopting from Dogs Trust for the second time and can’t wait to hear all about Bella’s adventures with her new family.”

“When Chunkie passed away, it was a huge loss in every sense of the word. It took until the beginning of June for me to decide to find another dog. Up until then, when I thought about having a dog, I just wanted Chunkie back. I spent several days searching on the Dogs Trust website and was overjoyed when I found Bella – I was determined to give her a new home.
“I ended up bringing Bella home six months to the day after losing Chunkie, and it was the best decision. She is incredibly loving and cuddly, which I see as the best benefit of having a large breed dog. I really love large dogs that think they’re lap dogs and I am apparently just silly enough to convince myself it’s a good idea, twice!
“When I decided I was ready to adopt another dog, I never thought about going anywhere else besides Dogs Trust. The staff at Dogs Trust West London are all so kind and loving and treat the dogs in their care as if they were their own pets. When Bella left for her forever home, she had a line of people wanting to say goodbye which was amazing, and I hope they all know she’s being spoilt and loved a great deal.”
Everyone at Dogs Trust West London was delighted for Bella finding her happy ending and would love to see all of the dogs at the centre find their forever families.
