Bellway London has completed the purchase of land for the fifth phase of its Fielders Quarter development in Barking Riverside.

The homebuilder’s Barking Project Team aims to build 440 new homes on the new site which is bounded by Fielders Crescent and Riverside Campus to the west and The Boulevard to the south east.

The 2.3-acre development will consist of a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments spread over five apartment blocks. The development will feature 286 new homes for private sale and 154 properties available through London Affordable Rent or shared ownership.

The apartments will benefit from a patio space, balcony or terrace, while the site will also include a public square and commercial space.

Bellway London is building 1,212 new homes across the five phases at Fielders Quarter. Work is continuing on the current phases for sale, with construction of phase five due to start in late 2024.

David Burns, Managing Director of Bellway London’s Barking Project Team, said: “This is an important land purchase which sees us continue our commitment to this up-and-coming area. This brownfield site at Fielders Quarter provides a very exciting opportunity for Bellway London to create an attractive, sustainable new mixed-use development within the final parcel of this part of the hugely transformative Barking Riverside masterplan.

“The range of one to three-bedroom apartments is designed to cater for a wide range of homeowners including first-time buyers and families. Residents will have the exclusive use of an on-site concierge service, a gym, cycle storage and a residents-only courtyard.

“The development will also see the creation of Western Square, which will mark the end point of the public east-west linear park which runs through the different phases of Fielders Quarter to Riverside Campus, which lies opposite this site across Fielders Crescent and is home to a secondary school with sixth form, primary school and special school.

“The new homes are also well served by public transport, having immediate access to a bus stop and being only a short walk from Barking Riverside Overground station for the Hammersmith & City and District lines and c2c services to Fenchurch Street and Essex. It’s also convenient for the Uber Thames Clipper which provides a river service into central London from a dedicated pier at Barking Riverside.”

Fielders Quarter is part of an ambitious masterplan to deliver 10,800 new homes on the site of the former Barking Power Station, effectively creating a new town with its own designated infrastructure and transport facilities.

As well as the new homes at Fielders Quarter, Bellway London is also delivering 167 new homes at Westbrooke Village and 107 properties at Eastbrooke Village, as part of the wider Barking Riverside regeneration plan.

There’s currently a choice of one, two and three-bedroom apartments available across the current phases at Fielders Quarter – Fielders Quarter, Fielders Quarter at Barking Riverside, and Fielders Quarter West Circus – with prices starting from £260,995.
