Children across the UK can watch the beloved children’s character, Blippi, explore their home turf this week as he visits The Championships, Wimbledon in two brand new episodes of Blippi.
This summer UK fans will see Blippi ignite children’s curiosity as he takes on another playful adventure, this time on British soil, and explores how the team at Wimbledon prepares for the world-famous Grand Slam. With 57% of UK tennis fans being made by the age of 14[i], Blippi’s trip to Wimbledon is set to spark children’s interest in tennis and outdoor sports, encouraging all families to pick up a racquet this summer.
The first episode, titled ‘Blippi’s Wimbledon Match Day’ launched this Saturday 29th June and the second episode, ‘Blippi Explores Jobs at Wimbledon’, will be released this Tuesday 2nd July.
The special episodes feature Blippi getting straight to work at the All England Club; from brushing up on his tennis skills on the pristine grass courts, to shadowing the ground staff, and visiting the commentary box, no racquet or tennis ball is left unturned as children get set to experience an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The Championships, Wimbledon – the world’s oldest tennis event.
With research revealing just half (51%) of children and young people enjoy taking part in physical activity and sport[ii], the highly anticipated Blippi episodes aim to fuel emerging passions in sport and spark curiosity around the fun-filled professions that exist at Wimbledon, from court to court-side.
Katelynn Heil, General Manager Blippi at Moonbug Entertainment Ltd commented “Wimbledon is an iconic British moment watched by the world, and we’re excited to see Blippi celebrate it with UK fans for the first time. These episodes are packed with courtside fun while exploring the teamwork and sportsmanship that define tennis. We can’t wait for children to watch the episodes and hope they inspire families across the country to pick up a tennis racquet this summer!”
Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing & Commercial Director for Wimbledon added “We are always looking at ways to attract and engage Wimbledon’s next generation. These episodes combine the excitement and fun of Blippi’s adventures with the magical world of Wimbledon, giving a behind-the-scenes look of The Championships and inspiring young fans. We hope children around the world watching will learn more about the different roles and areas onsite that make Wimbledon so unique, and one day come and visit SW19 for themselves.”
