Donald Cambell’s legendary hydroplane, Bluebird K7 will take part in the Lady Mayor’s show on the 8th of November.

Tracy Hodgson, Director of the Ruskin Museum, said: “Donald Campbell was a true pioneer and an inspirational figure of the Jet Age, he symbolised the spirit of innovation, courage and technological progress that defined the mid-20th century, and we are honoured to have his hydroplane, Bluebird K7, in The Lady Mayor’s Show.”

She added: “K7 will be carried by a Steeles truck, which will be displaying banners showing the sponsors and supporters of her return to Coniston Water in 2026. In front of her will be the Royal British Legion Band premiering a specially composed piece of music, the ‘Bluebird K7 March’ written by the Clerk of The Worshipful Company of Coachmakers, Lt Col Craig Hallatt.”

Tracy said: “Behind Bluebird K7 will be a 100-year-old Dennis bus built in 1925 and restored by the Master Carmen from The Worshipful Company of Carmen.”

She added: “At the Lady Mayor’s Show Bluebird K7 will represent Britain’s high speed record heritage, innovation and achievements.”
