Bola, East London’s first-ever Beach Tennis club, is officially launching this summer with an epic 7-week initiative that brings the samba beach spirit to the heart of the city. There will be a free open day to mark the launch of Bola on Friday 27th June from 12-8pm – sign up here to book your spot: https://bolabeachtennis.co.uk/

Location: Basset Lane, Hackney Wick, E95EN

Launching on Friday 27th of June in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Bola’s state-of-the-art facility will include three full-size Beach Tennis courts (16×8M with safety zones), complete with a beach-style shack serving up hydrating drinks, snacks and music amplifying the atmosphere and turning the courts into a vibrant summer social hub.

Operating Thursday to Sunday for 7 weeks, Bola will host open socials, taster sessions, lessons and tournaments, offering something for everyone, from total beginners to more competitive players.

Bola is backed by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), building on the excitement of 2016’s BeachEast initiative, but adding a fresh spin driven by one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.

Originating in Italy and Brazil, Beach Tennis has rapidly evolved into a vibrant, accessible sport played in over 50 countries, blending the finesse of tennis with the flair of beach volleyball. Pop-up courts, rooftop sand venues, and beach-style clubs are appearing in major urban areas like New York, Paris, São Paulo, and now London. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is working toward making Beach Tennis an official sport at the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

With deep roots in London’s tennis scene, the Bola team is already connected to a wide network of tennis enthusiasts, players and coaches, and look forward to welcoming thousands of eager participants over the course of the summer to the new facility.

Bola Founder Alex Smith said: “I’m genuinely blown away by the level of interest we’ve received about our upcoming launch. On a recent trip to visit family in Rio, it was amazing to see how embedded beach tennis has become in the Brazilian social fabric, mainly due to the fun atmosphere and minimal barriers to entry – really anyone can play. The fast-paced, short matches make it ideal for socialising, and we look forward to replicating the samba spirit here in East London this summer!”

Bola is actively seeking a dynamic sports brand partner to help take this initiative to new heights. With an expected reach of thousands of Londoners this summer, the opportunity offers powerful brand exposure in a unique social environment.
