The former Mayor of London has taken aim at Boris Johnson, claiming the Prime Minister “wants to be an international celebrity.”
Ken Livingstone described Mr Johnson as “an idiot, saying he did nothing with his time as London mayor.
Speaking to GB News he said: “When I got into politics in the late 60s… everyone came in to make life better for people. Now it’s filled with idiots like Boris that want to be an international bloody celebrity.”
Mr Livingstone also questioned the milestones the Prime Minister is celebrated for, including the successful vaccine rollout.
“That’s down to the doctors and surgeons in the NHS, not Boris.
“I watched Boris Johnson during the eight years he was Mayor. I was amazed that he never really initiated anything.
“He’s doing much less than any prime minister in my lifetime.
“He is the worst prime minister of my lifetime.”
The former Mayor did praise Mr Johnson’s efforts to help Ukraine against Putin, but told Mark Dolan: “It’s always just about promoting himself. He wants to be a famous international celebrity.”
Earlier on Friday, Boris Johnson has confronted China’s President Xi Jinping in a “frank and candid” discussion over the situation in Ukraine amid concern among Western powers at Beijing’s stance on the conflict, Downing Street has said.
The contact came after Nato leaders urged China to “abstain” from supporting Russia’s war effort and to refrain from any actions that would help it circumvent sanctions.
In a terse readout following the 50-minute telephone call, a No 10 spokesman said they had discussed “a range of issues of mutual interest” including the situation in Ukraine.
