BOXPARK, renowned for its iconic food, entertainment and cultural venues, has today confirmed they have begun refurbishment of their newest venture—the revitalisation of Camden’s Buck Street Market. BOXPARK Camden is set to officially open its doors to the public IN late September, bringing its electric energy to one of London’s most popular towns.

In anticipation of the reopening, BOXPARK has also announced they have secured a licence to operate the three-floor market that will include 60 independent food and retail traders alongside two bars, complete with a rooftop terrace (subject to planning permission), enhancing the site’s appeal as a vibrant social hub. The market will operate seven days a week, seeing both Fridays and Saturdays open until 11.30pm.

Since acquiring the site in April, BOXPARK has driven a complete transformation of the market alongside Places for London, Transport for London’s property company. The investment in renovations will see an improvement of the overall site facilities, alongside the installation of new paintwork, flooring, and signage, with the construction of a much-anticipated roof coming towards the end of the year.

A nod to the group’s commitment to fostering independent businesses, BOXPARK Camden will continue to host a diverse mix of food and retail units. Chip sensation Chipsy and Philippe Conticini, famed for the viral giant croissant, will join the likes of Yorkshire Burrito and Black Bear Burger for the ultimate food trader line-up, in keeping with Camden’s notorious foodie scene.

In line with the vibrant spirit of Camden, BOXPARK Camden will feature a tailor-made events program of some of their most loved cultural and community events, including weekly quizzes, comedy nights, live music and resident DJ sets that celebrate the area’s rich cultural heritage.

Ben McLaughlin, Chief Operating Officer at BOXPARK comments: “This has been such an exciting and rewarding challenge for BOXPARK so far, and one we cannot wait to see the results of. It’s no secret we have a love of locations beaming with culture and community, and Camden is no different. The iconic town has been a fan-favourite for years, boasting a world of food, music and the arts that is clearly aligned with us.

“We are committed to flying the flag for independent businesses across the country, and this restoration will allow us to continue this in one of the most significant takeovers London will see this year. Following our Liverpool opening earlier this year, this next step for us is just the beginning of our upcoming expansion plans, and we cannot wait to see the response from the Camden community.”

Samantha Bain-Mollison, Head of Retail at Places for London, said: “It’s exciting to see BOXPARK’s plans for Buck Street Market moving forward to revitalise the space for all. We will be working closely with BOXPARK as they work to improve the market and provide a welcoming and inclusive space in the heart of Camden that locals and visitors can enjoy all year round.”

Earlier this year, BOXPARK launched its latest site in Liverpool, the very first outside of the capital. Located in the historic Canning Hall at Cains Brewery Village, the 1,500 capacity venue is the group’s fourth site in the UK since they launched in 2011. This month the group also announced an NTIA campaign which has seen over 10,000 sign-ups so far to support an extension of the lease on their much-loved Shoreditch venue.
