Brad Moore’s performance in the award winning film Gloves Off has been called “Solidly entertaining and well played” Flickering Myth. Having started acting very late in life at 40, Brad has held his own in several British films and now performs alongside some of Britain’s most esteemed comedy talent including Ricky Tomlinson (The Royle Family, Mike Bassett: Manager), Denise Van Outen (Keith Lemon: The Film, Run for Your Wife), Paul Barber (The Full Monty, Only Fools and Horses), Alan Ford (Snatch, Cockneys vs Zombies) and Alexei Sayle (The Young Ones, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade).
Gloves Off follows Doug (Brad Moore) who, after the sudden death of his trainer during his championship fight, has inherited a crumbling debt-ridden gym, packed with a mixed bag of crazy would-be boxers (Ricky Tomlinson, Paul Barber, Alexei Sayle).
He must raise £50,000 fast or risk watching his mentor’s legacy re-possessed and transformed into a jumped-up pilates parlour for stockbrokers. Doug agrees to train a gypsy woman’s (Denise Van Outen) brother to fight in a £100,000 winner-takes-all bare-knuckle contest against the ‘King of The Gypsies’ which takes place at Appleby Horse Trading fair.
Whilst Gloves Off is fictional, several elements in the script mirror Brads own life struggles.
Moore has quickly built an impressive profile starting with the breakthrough BAFTA winning film The Rise, acting alongside Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner) and Luke Treadway (Unbroken). After this he starred as ‘DC Stephen Phelps’ in the urban action flick Montana alongside Ashley Walters (Top Boy), Michelle Fairly (Game of Thrones) and Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards); Brad’s first leading role came in crime thriller NorthvSouth where he played psychotic villain ‘Gary Little’, starring alongside Steven Berkoff, Bernard Hill (Lord of the Rings) and Keith Allen. Brad’s played lead antagonist in recent film Golden Years which starred some of Britain’s best acting talent including Bernard Hill, Alun Armstrong (New Tricks), Sue Johnston (The Royal Family), Virginia McKenna, Simon Callow, Una Stubbs, Mark Williams and Phil Davis.
Winner of Best Feature Film at the British Independent Film Festival (BIFF) 2018, Gloves Off is a feel-good, British comedy about a group of friends risking life and limb to save their beloved boxing gym.
Gloves Off will have its Leicester Square premier this Wednesday the 19th September, will then be released On Demand from the 24th September and DVD on the 1st October.
