Burnt Oak Junior School and Chatsworth Infant School in Sidcup have welcomed their pupils’ families to a free Christmas family meal at school.
Burnt Oak Junior School hosted the meal and saw a brilliant turnout this December, with around 130 people attending and getting into the festive spirit.
There was a raffle with 25 hampers to win and the children were able to take away a Christmas party bag.
The primary schools, which are both part of The Pioneer Academy, have worked in partnership with Nourish Contract Catering to feed all the excited guests.
The idea for the meal originated from The Pioneer Academy wanting to make sure that everyone was able to enjoy a Christmas dinner during the festive period.
One parent, Iana, was full of praise for the event, stating:
“I would like to thank all of you for the party that took place today. It was a wonderful event. This is something new for me — I have never seen schools organise such celebrations before. I can imagine how much effort it took to make everything enjoyable and delicious for everyone.
“We left in a very good mood, and I am truly grateful to you.”
Lee Mason-Ellis OBE, CEO of The Pioneer Academy said:
“We are delighted to provide Christmas family meals for pupils and their families. Occasions which bring everyone together are so important for the whole school community and it is brilliant to see all the children enjoying the events.
“Merry Christmas to everyone and have a wonderful time!”
