CAMDEN MARKET LAUNCHES ‘SUMMER OF SOUND’ – A FREE CELEBRATION OF CAMDEN’S LEGENDARY MUSIC SCENE

Camden Market’s Summer of Sound, a free, 6-week festival will begin on 18th July with a special warm-up event featuring Jerry Dammers, founder of The Specials and Spatial AKA Orchestra, before the official launch on 25th July, with legendary reggae DJ Selector David Rodigan and his unbeatable collection of vinyl records. This summer line-up celebrates Camden Market’s legendary music heritage with live music performances from iconic DJs.

Headlining the programme is the Back 2 Life Café series, curated by Soul II Soul founder and local icon Jazzie B. The weekly Friday night music extravaganza at Hawley Wharf will feature an eclectic line-up of handpicked DJs and sound system exhibitions – all free to attend from 5pm to 8pm.

The initial line-up includes:
18th July – Jerry Dammers (The Specials / Spatial AKA Orchestra) – warm up event
25th July – David Rodigan (Legendary Reggae DJ) – official launch
1st August – Shy One (NTS DJ)
8th August – Jazzie B (Soul II Soul founder & curator)
15th August – Tony Monson (Solar Radio) & Chris Baxter (Soul II Soul)
As Jazzie B himself shared, this series is “a powerful nod to Camden’s enduring legacy,” delivering “good vibes for everyone.”
Additional summer highlights include a special Amy Winehouse live tribute, emerging talent, family fun, and an unmissable closing party with DJ Fat Tony.
