Camden Town Methodist Church, co-located with boutique London hotel The Wesley, recently held a special service to help celebrate the two year anniversary of the hotel on 22nd June.

The chapel, which is now a co-located space with The Wesley Camden, was built in the 18th century by religious societies founded by John Wesley and his preachers on what was then King Street, which later became Plender Street in 1937.

Following an £11 million renovation project which was sensitively refurbished to retain the building’s historic façade and significant areas including the chapel itself, The Wesley Camden is now a sustainable 38 room boutique hotel.

James Barr, General Manager at The Wesley, said, “We’re incredibly grateful to Camden Methodist Church for their ongoing support. Together, we’ve created a space that respects the past while serving the needs of today’s socially conscious traveller.

Over the past 200 years, the church has experienced much change, including surviving extensive damage during the Second World War, when much of Camden was devastated. That the chapel still stands today is a testament to its resilience, and we’re proud to contribute to its ongoing story.”

The Wesley operates across two Central London hotels; The Wesley Euston is a 100-room hotel situated just steps from Euston Station, complete with a restaurant/ kitchen and bar, meeting rooms and spaces, as well as a new gym. The Wesley Camden is a 38-room boutique hotel located within the Camden Methodist Church building following a £11 million conversion of the old Camden Town Methodist Church.
