Staff and residents at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home in Bushey, Hertfordshire are celebrating their much-loved Head Chef, Avni Fejzullau, who is leaving after more than 25 years’ service.
Originally from Albania, Avni joined Barchester in 2000 as kitchen assistant at Bushey House Beaumont and has never looked back. He worked his way up through the ranks until he became Head Chef at Bushey House Beaumont and subsequently Regional Head Chef helping to teach and train other chefs in the group through the Barchester Chefs Academy Program.
Avni absolutely loves his job; he likes to chat to the residents to find out their likes and dislikes so he can present their food exactly the way they like it. He loves to come up with new ways to surprise and delight his residents with nutritious and flavoursome home-cooked meals.
The residents at Bushey House Beaumont presented Avni with a card signed by all of them and Elizabeth Randall, Resident Ambassador, gave a speech, thanking Avni for everything he has done for them, and assuring him he will be sorely missed.
Avni said: “Leaving Bushey is a sad day for me. When I started at Bushey, I was only 19 years old, now I am approaching 45! I was single and now I have a wife and children and my wife works here too. Every single day has been an absolute pleasure for me. Thank you all for your support, I am going to miss every single one of you.”
General Manager, Mary Jane Bague, commented: “Avni is an outstanding chef, he is extremely creative producing wonderful three course menus for residents every day for lunch and dinner, served to a high-class restaurant standard. We have been lucky to have Avni with us for so long and we wish him well in his next venture, but he is going to be sorely missed by us all. Thank you Avni.”
